From airport pickup to the last wave of the trip, everything is taken care of — so all you do is surf.
Ombak Kabau runs all-inclusive charters through the Mentawai chain: meals from our chef, a surf guide who reads the charts every evening, two tenders to put you on the peak, and Starlink to send the day's clips home. We move overnight, so you wake up anchored at the next wave.
No fixed route. No schedule but the ocean's. Ten guests on an empty wave beats forty on a famous one — and with the whole chain to work with, we can nearly always find that.
How the trip works
Heritage
Built in 2006. Still on the run.
She was built by Pak Eddy, one of the pioneers of the Mentawai surf charter business, for a single job: carrying surfers through these islands. A new hull in 2019, a full refurbishment in 2022 — and his son, Captain Pak Iwan, at the helm with more than twenty years in these waters.
